Columbia Waters

I made these socks for my September 2010 KAL's. Used the pattern Columbia Waters (Washington) by Laurie Kynaston from the 50 Socks - 50 States CD. I used Lorna's Laces sport weight yarn in the River colorway and size 2 dpn. It was a fun pattern and the yarn was great to work with.

Haley's Sherbet Sweater and Socks

I made the sweater (size 5/6) for Haley using Sirdar Snuggly Magic DK yarn and the Hooded Raglan Pattern also by Sirdar. I used size 3 needles on the trim and size 5 on the sweater. It took me forever and I finally got motivated to finish by participating in the Dog Days of Summer KAL with the Carefree group. When I finished the sweater (August 5th) I decided I wanted to use the leftover yarn to knit her a pair of socks. So I used The Sock Calendar book by Catherine Wingate and Jackie Erickson-Schweitzer and selected the Everybody Wants Sox pattern. Everything fits so I am thrilled. Hopefully when the weater turns a little cooler it will be one of Haley's favorites. I used size 3 needles on the socks. Finished the socks by August 31, 2010.

Jordan's Extension - 2010

Added about 4 1/2 inches (two bottom blocks) to Jordan's sweater I made last June. That boy has grown!!! I used size 6 needles and 2nd Time Cotton.

Bunches of Scarves

I have been busy making scarves for my church (they are going to be Christmas gifts for a group we help). The blue scarf with the purple trim is made with Feathers yarn by Caron and Fizz by Crystal Palace Yarns. The burgendy scarf with the gold trim is also Feathers but with Fun Fur. The gold scarf was knit with Crinkle Yarn and Fun Fur.

The black scarf is Fun Fur. I made it for Marie (a friend from work that made me a beautiful bracelet and earrings). Used size 11 on all of them.

I've Been Bad About Blogging...

So I will make up for it now.... Sultry Lace Socks (Mississippi) by Debbie Haymark from the 50 Socks 50 States CD. I used size 1 dpn (square) and Crystal Palace Panda Soy Yarn in the Provence colorway. I had a little trouble with the pattern and ended up removing 4 repeats. The little bag is a result of the first sock I started! Finished: July 31, 2010

The pattern I used was the Treasure Lace (Montana) pattern by Denise Henderly from the 50 Socks - 50 States CD. Super yarn and pattern - who can ask for anything more!!!

All kinds of goodies this month. Finished the thank you scarf for Louise! Used 2 skeins of Echo ribbon and size 10 needles. Also made a pair of socks for Diana's upcoming grandbaby with Sirdar Magic yarn and the pattern - Jeannee - from Plymouth yarn company and size 3 square dpn's. Finished off the month with a bag I designed. For the bag I used size 6 dpn and Ironstone yarn.

April Shawl for Sallie

Made this as a surprise for a friend at church. Used 3 skeins (almost) of Fluffy yarn and size 11 needles. It was a nobrainer but fun.

12/12/12 Carefree KAL

Kollage Square Needles

I recently bought some new SQUARE dpn from my LYS. I had already started a pair of socks in Trekking yarn on size one regular needles and the I changed to the square needles about half way through the first sock (where the yarn started to turn rust colored). I started the second sock in the square needles - what a difference in the stitches - they are so uniform and tight.

More Prizes....

Last year I was so lucky.... I posted a couple of prizes I won and now I have two more to post that I won at the end of the year.
Thank you to Simply Socks Yarn Company for the wonderful Fleece Artist Merino Wool in the vibrant blues and purples. I won that skein for entering the 12 Days of Christmas contest on Allison's blog. Great fun and yarn to boot - who could ask for anything more.
Then, on the Carefree KAL site I won two skeins of Mini Mochi yarn by Crystal Palace Yarns in the Blueberry Pancakes shade. Thank You!!! That was for the Holiday (or not) KAL. I have never used the Mini Mochi yarn before so I had to start a scarf in it for the Olympics KAL - I think it is going to be beautiful!

Mom's Shawl

I made this for my mom as part of the Prayer Shawl group at my church. I used Cachet yarn by Unger from my stash and size 11 needles. I gave it to my mom for Christmas and she loved it so that is what counts. Very cushy feeling and warm but lightweight.

December Socks

Made these toddler socks for my daughter's niece. I wanted a quick knit so I used a worsted weight yarn and size 5 dpn. The stripes were so large tho' that I ended up knitting different sections in different colors. I added the ruffle as an afterthought (because I wasn't happy with the rib I selected) and I think that is what saved the day. Really think they are kind of so ugly they are cute socks.... Oh well, I hope she will enjoy them!

I also made sock Christmas ornaments for my family and added some beads. When possible, I used the sock yarn I made their pair of socks with. Some day I'd like to knit an ornament of all the different socks I've made. Saw on a blog where one lady made baby socks as a gift that were to be used as an ornament when the baby outgrew them....what a great idea. I have to remember that one!
